Cholecalciferol EP (Vitamin D3)

Vitamin D and analogues (Plain Vitamin)

Indication:

For the prevention & treatment of Vitamin D3 & associated diseases like Osteomalacia, Rickets, Fractures, Preeclampsia, Eclampsia, during pregnancy & for the management of Cardiovascular & Diabetic profile.

Dosage & Administration:

Treatment guideline for 200,000 IU Oral/IM injectable solution:

Curative measures:

Disease Dosages (up to normalization of vitamin D level)

Rickets 1 ampoule every 2 weeks for one month then 1 ampoule for every 4 months

Osteoporosis 1 ampoule every 2 weeks for 3 months

Osteomalacia 1 ampoule every 2 weeks for 3 months

Vitamin D deficiency 1 ampoule can be repeated 1 to 6 months later

Preventive measures:

Disease Dosages (up to normalization of vitamin D level)

Pregnacy 1/2 ampoule at 6th or 7th month

During Breast feeding 1/2 ampoule for every 6 months

Children up to 5 years 1 ampoule for every 6 months

Adolescent 1 ampoule for every 6 months

Elderly 1/2 ampoule for every 3 months

Treatment guideline for Capsule:

2000 IU Licap Once/day (when vitamin D level is sufficient : ≥30 ng/ml or ≥ 75 nmol/L)

20000 IU Licap Once/week for 6-10 weeks for vitamin D insufficient patients

(when serum vitamin D level is 20-30 ng/mL or 50-75 nmol/L )

40000 IU Licap Once/week for 6-10 weeks for vitamin D deficient patients

(when serum vitamin D level is 12-19 ng/mL or 25-50 nmol/L )

50000 IU Licap Once/week for 6-10 weeks for severe vitamin D deficient patients

(when serum vitamin D level is <12 ng/mL or <25 nmol/L)

Dosing of capsule for Vitamin D deficiency in Children:

Vitamin D deficiency (12-18 years) 20000 IU, once every 2 weeks for 6 weeks

Prevention of Vitamin D deficiency (12-18 years) 20000 IU, once every 6 weeks
